WHY LEADERSHIP LEE COUNTY?

What do our graduates say?

David Hoel, Executive Director, Lee County Mosquito Control District
Gary Avin, Director, Customer Care Operations, LCEC

Oldest & Most Prestigious Leadership Program in SWFL

Strengthening and transforming the community since 1986, LLC is the oldest and most prestigious leadership program in Southwest Florida with over 1400 alumni!  The program provides its graduates with a network of business mentors and partners that is unmatched in the region.  LLC graduates are top in their fields and have risen to lead key organizations such as LeeHealth, LCEC, Cypress Cove, Lee County Mosquito Control, Lee County Sheriff’s Department, and the Royal Palm Coast Realtors Association, among others.

Building Servant Leadership & Community Involvement

The program strives to strengthen and serve the community with an intensive interactive learning experience that focuses on the concepts of servant leadership.  The goal is to develop a core group of professionals who are willing to serve first and then lead; ultimately becoming community trustees who volunteer to improve the quality of living for everyone in Southwest Florida.  Each class culminates with a group project designed and implemented by class participants to benefit the community through sweat-equity or fundraising activities.

Regional Program Spans Four Counties

This unique program helps newcomers as well as long-time residents understand the dynamics of the Southwest Florida community and region through visits to organizations in Lee, Collier, Charlotte, and Hendry Counties.  Through a series of retreats, seminars and site visits, emerging leaders are exposed to an overview of government, education, healthcare, the environment, and quality of life issues in the community.

Tallahassee Days Provides Understanding of State Government

A 2-day trip to Tallahassee to meet our state legislators is a highlight of the LLC experience giving participants the opportunity to represent Southwest Florida businesses, convey the viewpoint and needs of our community to our state representatives, and learn more about our state government and how it works.

Workforce Development

The program is an excellent workforce development tool for employers, that will orient your key team members to the community and prepare them to act as effective ambassadors for your business. As part of the program, a personality profile is provided to each participant with training that will help them understand their communication style and that of others, preparing them to build successful professional relationships and cohesive project teams.
