FEMA to reimburse LCEC $11.2 million for Hurricane Ian costs

On April 24, 2026, FEMA announced that it awarded nearly $97 million in funding to support recovery for past disasters in Florida. Among the entities to receive Public Assistance projects recovery funds was LCEC.

Of the more than $19 million for the reimbursement of costs for power restoration and distribution systems, Lee County Electric Cooperative was granted $11.2 million for Hurricane Ian. Sumter Electric Cooperative was awarded $4 million following Hurricane Milton and $1.1 million was awarded to Central Florida Electric Cooperative for Hurricane Helene. Read more here
